About

The Quinnipiac Bobcats Sports Network (QBSN) is the exclusive student-run sports organization here at Quinnipiac University. Originally founded by Corey Hersch and Alex Birsh in the fall of 2010, QBSN offers students the unique opportunity to become active as a sports journalist at QU. QBSN’s primary function has been to broadcast most of the athletics at Quinnipiac – streaming live online at this website. Sports broadcasted include: men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, baseball, softball, acrobatics and tumbling, women’s rugby, and field hockey. Students offer play by play and color commentary for each game, along with in-game twitter updates and an in-game live blog on the website.

In addition to the actual games being broadcasted live, QBSN also offers game previews, recaps, feature articles, and live podcasts through this website. Hockey Night in Hamden, an exclusive QU hockey podcast broadcasted weekly, has become a popular show for ECAC Hockey enthusiasts to tune into to hear QBSN’s experts weigh in on the week that was Quinnipiac Ice Hockey.

QBSN also works closely with all other Quinnipiac Student Media organizations to further the coverage of all things Quinnipiac University. QBSN enjoys two Quinnipiac athletics-specific radio shows on the official campus radio station WQAQ 98.1 FM. Additionally, QBSN works with the campus newspaper The Quinnipiac Chronicle and the QU athletics department to produce the first student-ran monthly athletics newsletter at Quinnipiac.

QBSN is fueled by the passionate commitment that its members have demonstrated time and time again. Only two years into its existence, QBSN has gained noticeable recognition, earning the QU New Student Organization of the Year award in the 2010-2011 scholastic year and the 2011-2012 Quinnipiac Athletics Behind the Scenes award. Led now by Co-Directors Marc Schwartz, Matthias Gausz, and Publishing Editor Angelique Fiske, QBSN is excited to launch theqbsn.com version 2.0!
